China has strict regulations on messaging. We support outgoing SMS only in China, which means you can send SMS, but not receive SMS. Also MMS is not supported in China. 


To send SMS in China, you need a sender ID, credits and user license. Sender ID will be international phone number.

International Phone Numbers are non domestic phone numbers that support sending SMS only with capability to send 10 SMS per second

SMS Pricing

SMS pricing is based on the destination and type of message you’re sending. Text messages are charged 1 credit per segment of 160 characters outgoing SMS.

1 International Phone Number price – $2/month (Good for 10 SMS per second)

 

Compliance Guidelines

 

Text Messaging Cloud customers, including their end-users and clients, must comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Chinese networks have very strict regulations about the type of SMS content which can be sent to subscribers on their network. The networks impose heavy fines and cut off connections if these rules are breached. Customers that send messages to, from, and within China must follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Text Messaging Cloud encourages customers to seek advice from a qualified attorney before using our products in any proposed use case. 

  1. Get opt-in consent from each end-user before sending any communication to them, particularly for marketing or other non-essential communications.
  2. Only communicate during an end-user’s daytime hours unless it is urgent.
  3. SMS campaigns should support HELP/STOP messages, and similar messages, in the end-user’s local language.
  4. Do not contact end-users on do-not-call or do-not-disturb registries.
